SUMMER SCHEDULE RELEASED
Please click on the sidebar under "2010 Summer Schedule" for information about this summer. Please sign up through the business office for Summer Varsity (Juniors,Seniors, and invited Sophomores). Registration forms will be accepted until June 14th and the registration form is located on the school's website. Players who have signed up will meet at Lyons Township High School's baseball fields at 2:00 for a 3:00 game at LT on Monday 6/14. Players should bring their equipment and wear a pair of baseball pants and an RB hat. Players will be provided a summer jersey at this time
Summer Camp will also begin this Monday the 14th at 10:00. Players will meet in the backfield weather permitting and inside the fieldhouse if weather is poor.


BULLDOG BASEBALL RANKS AMONGST IHSA CLASS 3A FINAL 16 FOR 3RD CONSECUTIVE YEAR
Bulldog Baseball (22-13-2) fell for the 3rd consecutive year in the IHSA Class 3A Sectional Final losing a hard fought battle to Nazareth Academy by a score of 6-1. The Dogs outhit the Roadrunners 7-6 and committed 0 errors to the Naz's 2. In the end it came down to timely hitting with RB going 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position and Naz rallying for 5 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Matt Kenahan took a tough loss as he held a 1-0 lead going into the fifth and having allowed just one baserunner. Tyler Radek (.303, 15 RBI, 13 SB) provided an RBI triple and basehit while Vito DeRango (.415, 15 RBI, 10 SB) went 2 for 3 with a sac bunt, double, and the Bulldogs' only run scored. Matt Scott (.509, 41 RBI) struck out for the first time this season on a borderline call in his 107th at-bat of the year. Scott also set the school record for single-season average (.509) which beats Eric Bava's 1997 record of .482. Earlier in the year Scott broke his own school record for doubles in a single-season with 14. Sophomore Andy Suzuki (.449 ob%) was also 2 for 3 and Billy VandeMerkt added 31st basehit of the season. Charlie Morrissey, DeRango, Suzuki, and sophomore Dylan Beketic provided a solid infield. Junior David Tortorici (3-2, 2.58 ERA) worked the 6th inning in relief of Kenahan.

DOGS ADVANCE TO SECTIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Bulldog Baseball (22-12-2) advanced to the Class 3A Sectional Championship for the 3rd consecutive year with a win against Lake View by a score of 2-1. The Dogs are amongst the 16 teams that remain in the IHSA Class 3A State Tournament. Alex Brown (8-3, 1.92 ERA, 142 K) threw his 9th complete game of the season while giving up 4 hits, one earned run, striking out 7, and walking 2. Charlie Morrissey (12 RBI) led the offense going 2 for 3 with an RBI and Billy VandeMerkt (13 RBI) drove in the other run with a basehit. Vito DeRango (.409, 15 RBI, 10 SB) added a double while Matt Scott (.519, 41 RBI), Tyler Radek (.295, 14 RBI, 13 SB), and Brown all singled. The #2 seeded Bulldogs will face #1 seeded Nazareth Academy as they hope to advance to the Super-Sectionals for the first time in school history. (6/4)

RB 6 v. St. Joseph 4
Bulldog Baseball (21-12-2) beat the Chargers of St. Joseph by a score of 6-4 to win their 3rd consecutive IHSA Class 3A Regional Championship and 4th in school history (1964, 2008, 2009, 2010). Alex Brown (7-3, 2.00 ERA, 135 K) earned the win giving up 4 earned runs on 5 hits and 4 walks while striking out 10. The game was tied at 2-2 going into the bottom of the 5th inning when the Dogs rallied with 4 runs behind a leadoff Vito DeRango (.411, 15 RBI, 10 SB, 40 R)double off of the top of the fence followed by a Matt Kenahan (.326, 23 RBI) hit, an intential walk of Matt Scott (.519, 41 RBI), a 2-RBI double by Alex Cebular (.369, 23 RBI), and an RBI triple by Tyler Radek (.293, 14 RBI, 12 SB). DeRango was 2 for 3 on the day with a phenomenal play at shortstop, Scott was 1 for 3 with an RBI, and Cebular added another basehit. Billy VandeMerkt added a spectacular catch at the center field wall. The Dogs will play Lake View at Nazareth on Thursday (6/3) at 4:30.

RB 7 v. Uplift 0 Bulldog Baseball (20-12-2) advances to the IHSA Class 3A Regional Final versus the winner of St. Joseph and Roosevelt. The matchup will take place at St. Joseph High School in Westchester this Saturday (5/29) at 11:00am.

DOGS OPEN UP PLAYOFFS TOMORROW
Bulldog Baseball (19-12-2) will take on the Uplift Titans tomorrow at 4:30 at St. Joseph's High School in Westchester in Class 3A Regional Semifinal action. Uplift defeated Noble Street Charter yesterday by forfeit. (5/25)

RB 7 v. University High 0 Alex Brown (6-3, 1.81, 125 K) struck out 10 over 6 innings and yielding 2 hits and 2 walks. Brown is now the single-season RBHS strikeout record holder after breaking Danny Sherecks 1989 record of 116. Brown also drove in a run on a basehit. Matt Scott (.520, 38 RBI) went 2 for 3 which included his 14th double of the season breaking Scott's own record of 13 set in 2009. Scott has failed to strikeout in his 98 at-bats this season. VIto DeRango (..398, 15 RBI) went 3 for 3 with an RBI and Alex Cebular (.343, 18 RBI) slammed an RBI double. Tyler Radek and Brandon Mitchell each provided singles while Sean Brennan (.314, 9 RBI) provided an RBI on a sacrifice fly. Watoris Slater and Brendan McGuire each stole a base. Charlie Morrissey provided 2 walks and some spectacular fielding at third base and TJ Bongiorno (1-0, 2.03 ERA) threw a perfect 7th inning of relief. (5/24)

RB 8 v. Glenbard South 3 Bulldog Baseball (18-12-2) was successful on senior day as they defeated to Glenbard South Raiders by a score of 8-3. The Raiders will compete in the Metro Suburban Conference in 2011. Chris James (4-0, 2.14 ERA) threw 5 innings while walking none, striking out one, yielding 6 hits and 2 earned runs. David Tortorici (3-2. 2.47 ERA) closed out the game throwing the final 2 frames giving up 0 hits while striking out 2. Matt Scott (.516, 38 RBI) was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI while smacking his record-tying 13th double of the season. Alex Cebular (.340, 17 RBI) added 2 RBI and 2 hits while Sean Brennan (.333, 8 RBI) had a 2-RBI basehit and Vito DeRango (.381, 14 RBI, 9 SB) added an RBI basehit. Matt Kenahan (.322, 20 RBI) had 2 basehits and Tyler Radek (.282, 13 RBI, 12 SB) and Cody Marquette (.345, 6 RBI) each slammed a double. (5/23)

RB 5 v. Fenwick 9 The Dogs fell to 17-12-2 after running into a red-hot Fenwick team by a score of 9-5. Matt Kenahan (5-6, 3.68 ERA) suffered the loss throwing 5 innings, striking out 3, walking 3, giving up 10 hits and 9 runs (5 earned). TJ Bongiorno (1-0, 2.25 ERA) worked a perfect 6th inning in relief. Leading the offense was Matt Scott (.505, 35 RBI, .600 RISP) who went 3 for 4 with 3 doubles and 2 RBI. Scott has a total of 12 doubles on the season which is one short of the RB single season record set by Scott in 2009. Scott is also in contention to break Eric Bava's single-season record for batting average at .482 set in 1997. Sean Brennan (.345, 6 RBI) came through in the clutch with a bases loaded, 2-out, 2 RBI single in the 3rd inning. Tyler Radek (.284, 13 RBI, 12 SB), Alex Cebular (.333, 15 RBI), Billy VandeMerkt (.280, 12 RBI), and Charlie Morrissey (.267, 6 RBI) all added basehits. The Dogs will face Glenbard South this Saturday (5/22) at Brookfield's Ehlert Park for Senior Day. (5/21)

RB 7 v. Montini 6 The Dogs improved to 17-11-2 overall with a 7-6 win over the Montini Broncos. Alex Brown (5-3, 1.97 ERA, 115 K) threw 5.7 innings striking out 10, giving up 3 hits, walking 4, and yielding 6 runs (only 2 earned). Brown, who has pulled within 1 strikeout of Danny Shereck's 1989 single season record of 116, is scheduled to pitch again against University High on May 23rd at RB campus. Chris James (3-0, 1.91 ERA) worked a perfect 1.3 innings of relief while earning the win. Charlie Morrissey (.262, 6 RBI) went 2 for 3 with an RBI and Tyler Radek (.286, 13 RBI, 11 SB) added an RBI double. Sean Brennan (.333, 4 RBI), who supplied the winning RBI, also added a basehit while Matt Kenahan (.321, 20 RBI) earned an RBI with a bases loaded HBP. Alex Cebular (.330, 15 RBI) and Vito DeRango (.394, 13 RBI) also singled and Brown, Kenahan, and Radek all helped their team by successfully executing sacrifice bunts. The Dogs outhit the Broncos 8 to 3 and each team committed 3 errors in a game that had 5 lead changes. (5/20)

RB 2 v. Elmwood Park 4 David Tortorici (3-2, 2.60 ERA) threw 4.3 innings striking out 2, walking none, giving up 8 hits and 3 earned runs. Chris James (2-0, 2.10 ERA) threw the remaining 2.7 innings giving up 2 hits, 2 walks, and 0 runs. Vito DeRango (.396, 13 RBI, 9 SB) and Matt Scott (.494, 33 RBI) went 1 for 3 with Scott adding an RBI. Alex Cebular (.330, 15 RBI) and David Skowronski each added a single.

RB 2 v. Elmwood Park 0
Matt Kenahan (5-5, 3.37 ERA) threw his first shutout of the season striking out 6 and giving up just 3 hits. Matt Scott and Tyler Radek (.284, 12 RBI, 11 SB) both went 1 for 3 with an RBI. Vito DeRango added a single and Alex Cebular doubled.

RB 2 v. Elmwood Park 0 Alex Brown (5-3, 1.92 ERA, 105 K) threw his 7th complete game and 3rd shutout of the year as the Bulldogs improved to 15-10-2 overall and 11-2 in the Metro Suburban. Brown is just 11 K short of Danny Shereck's 1989 single-season record of 116 with a scheduled 3+ starts remaining for the ace. Brown dominated the Tigers striking out 16 while yielding just 2 hits and a walk. Matt Kenahan (.342, 18 RBI) and Sean Brennan (.333) led the offense each going 2 for 3 with an RBI with Brennan adding a double. Charlie Morrissey (.405 OBP) was also 2 for 3 and Billy VandeMerkt (.303 12 RBI), Vito DeRango (.396, 13 RBI, 8 SB), and Matt Scott (.506, 31 RBI) all added basehits. DeRango, Kenahan, and TJ Bongiorno all added stolen bases. (5/12)

DOGS GET #2 SEED IN NAZARETH SECTIONAL
Bulldog Baseball received the #2 seed of the Nazareth Sectional of the IHSA Class 3A state tournament. The Dogs will be the top seed at the St. Joseph's regional and will face the winner of #15 Uplift and #18 Noble Street Charter. RB 13 v. Fenton 5 Matt Kenahan (4-5, 3.87 ERA, 45 K) went 6 innings giving up 5 hits and 4 BB's while fanning 3. Chris James (2-0, 2.63 ERA) threw the final inning giving up 2 hits and a run. Matt Scott (.507, 31 RBI) and Charlie Morrissey were both 3 for 4 with 2 RBI with Scott slugging his 9th double of the year. Tyler Radek (.308, 11 RBI, 11 SB) went 2 for 3 and Dylan Beketic and Billy VandeMerkt (.302, 12 RBI) were both 2 for 4 with and an RBI each. Matt Kenahan (.329, 17 RBI) and Alex Cebular (.346, 15 RBI) each supplied a basehit and 2 RBI. Vito DeRango (.402, 13 RBI, 29 RS) also slugged an RBI double and David Skowronski supplied a pinch hit single. The Dogs (14-10-2) are currently tied with Illiana Christian at 10-2 in the Metro Suburban Conference. (5/10)

RB 11 v. Fenton 1 Alex Brown (4-3, 2.16 ERA, 89 K) threw 5 innings striking out 6, walking 4, and giving up 3 hits while also adding a basehit at the plate. Alex Cebular led the offense going 3 for 4 with a homerun and 4 RBI. Matt Kenahan, Vito DeRango, and Billy VandeMerkt all added 3 hits and an RBI each. Matt Scott supplied a 2-RBI single and Watoris Slater stole his first base of the year.

RB 5 v. Fenton 4 Alex Cebular (.319, 9 RBI) led the offense going 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Matt Kenahan (.313, 14 RBI) also added an RBI basehit. Matt Scott (.500, 27 RBI) and Vito DeRango (.400, 11 RBI) were both 2 for 4 with DeRango supplying a double and stolen base. Billy VandeMerkt (.282, 10 RBI), Andy Suzuki, Charlie Morrissey, and Brendan McGuire each hit safely. McGuire also gunned down a Bison baserunner trying to advance to home. Starter David Tortorici (3-1, 2.31 ERA) threw 5 innings fanning 3, walking one, while giving up 7 hits and 4 earned runs. Winning pitcher Chris James (2-0, 2.17 ERA) threw 2 innings striking out 2 and giving up just one basehit. Alex Brown (3-3, 2.24 ERA, 83 K) shut the door in the bottom of the 7th yielding 0 hits to earn the save. (5/5)

RB 2 v. Illiana Christian 9 The Dogs started strong with a leadoff hit by Vito DeRango who stole second base and was driven in by a Matt Kenahan single. Kenahan was later driven in on a Billy VandeMerkt RBI single. Matt Scott, Vito DeRango, Andy Suzuki, and Brendan McGuire all scattered basehits and Alex Cebular went 2 for 3. Matt Kenahan (3-5, 4.10 ERA) suffered the loss throwing 5 innings fanning 3, walking 2, yielding 7 hits and 3 earned runs. The Dogs committed 6 errors on the day but Brendan McGuire supplied an outstanding diving catch in right field.

RB 1 v. Illiana Christian 2 Alex Brown battled and gave his team a chance to win as he fanned 9 Vikings and scattered 8 hits while walking only one. Vito DeRango was 2 for 4, Matt Kenahan went 1 for 3 with a sac fly which scored designated hitter Sean Brennan. Brennan and Matt Scott also added basehits.

RB 1 v. Illiana Christian 0 The Dogs improve to 7-0 in the Metro Suburban and 11-8-2 overall behind a shutout performance from Alex Brown (3-2, 2.31 ERA, 74 K) who scattered 5 hits while striking out 8 and walking 2. Matt Scott (.517, 27 RBI) led off the bottom of the 4th with his 8th double of the season. Pinch runner Brendan McGuire scored in Scott's place later in the inning on a hard-hit ball by Dylan Beketic. The Vikings rallied in the top of the 7th with a leadoff walk and sac bunt but their hopes were spoiled as rightfielder Matt Kenahan caught a flyball for the second out of the inning and fired a bullet to third basemen Charlie Morrissey to gun down the runner trying to advance from second base. Billy VandeMerkt also added a basehit and Vito DeRango anchored the defense at shortstop with 4 assists. (4/26)

RB 14 v. Ridgewood 3 David Tortorici (1.73 ERA) improved to 3-1 on the season as the Dogs (10-8-2 overall) remained a perfect 6-0 in Metro Suburban Conference play. Andy Suzuki led the offense going 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI while Cody Marquette (.409, 6 RBI) was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI, Dylan Beketic went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI, and Vito DeRango (.409, 11 RBI) was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Matt Scott (.527, 27 RBI) added an RBI double, Alex Cebular (.300, 7 RBI) added an RBI triple, and Charlie Morrissey and Matt Riedl both added RBI basehits. Chris James closed out the game for the Bulldogs on the mound yielding only a walk to the Rebels in one inning of work. (4/25)

RB 9 v. Ridgewood 1 Matt Kenahan earned the win striking out 9 on 3 hits in 6 innings. Kenahan was also 2 for 4 with 2 RBI at the plate. Vito DeRango continued his hot hitting going 3 for 4 with a stolen base. Cody Marquette added a 2 RBI basehit and 2 stolen bases, Matt Scott and Billy VandeMerkt added RBI basehits, and Alex Cebular slugged a double. TJ Bongiorno threw the final innings ending the game on a perfectly timed pickoff play with shortstop DeRango.

RB 2 v. Ridgewood 1 Bulldog Baseball (8-8-2, 4-0 Metro Suburban) won a southpaw pitcher's duel between Ridgewood ace Pat Macione and RB's Alex Brown. Brown (2-2, 2.77 ERA, 66 K) continued to dominate MSC opponents tossing a complete game 2-hitter with 19 strikeouts. The Rebels scored in the first on a single, stolen base, and RBI single. RB responded in the bottom of the 2nd with Alex Cebular (.308, 6 RBI) leading off the inning with a walk and then Cody Marquette (.375) knocking him in with an RBI double to tie the score at 1-1. The score remained until the bottom of the 7th when Cebular started it off with a base hit. A botched sacrifice bunt by Marquette that resulted in a fielder's choice brought David Skowronski to the plate. Skowronski drove a ball into right-center field for the game-winning RBI double that scored Marquette from 1st base. Matt Scott (.563, 25 RBI) was 2 for 3.

RB 1 v. Leyden 5 Matt Kenahan pitched a complete game with 3 striekouts and 1 walk while scattering 7 hits and giving up just 1 earned run. David Skowronski had a pinch hit RBI single while Kenahan, Alex Cebular, and Andy Suzuki each singled.

RB 11 v. Timothy Christian 4 TJ Bongiorno (1-0, 2.86 ERA) got the win throwing 3 innings giving up 4 hits, walking 3, and yielding 2 earned runs. Matt Scott threw 2 innings of relief striking out 5, walking 1, and giving up 2 earned runs on 2 hits. Scott (.595, 25 RBI) also went 3 for 3 at the plate with a double and 5 RBI. Matt Riedl threw the final 2 innings giving up no hits or runs. Alex Cebular (.298, 6 RBI) went 2 for 2 with 2 RBI. Billy VandeMerkt (.340, 8 RBI)added an RBI double and Matt Kenahan (.333, 9 RBI), Sean Brennan, and Brendan McGuire all added basehits.

RB 15 v. Timothy Christian 1 (5 inn) Chris James (1-0, 3.15 ERA) went the distance striking out 5, yielding 3 hits, walking none, and giving up just 1 earned run. Tyler Radek (.315, 11 RBI, 10 SB) was 3 for 3 with a double, triple, 3 RBI, and a stolen base. Vito DeRango (.407, 10 RBI) was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI. Cody Marquette also went 2 for 3 and Billy VandeMerkt went 2 for 3 with 2 triples. Matt Scott added a 2 RBI on a basehit and Matt Kenahan hit a 2-RBI triple. Alex Cebular added a double and Dylan Beketic had a sacrifice bunt. (4/17)

RB 10 v. Shepard 0 (5 inn) David Tortorici (2-1, 1.80 ERA) went the distance scattering 3 hits, striking out 3, and walking none as Bulldog Baseball improved to 5-7-2. Vito DeRango (.408, 8 RBI) was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and Cody Marquette was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Matt Scott (.583. 18 RBI) was 1 for 2 with a 2-RBI double and Billy VandeMerkt (.313, 7 RBI) also slugged a double. Matt Kenahan (.324, 7 RBI) , Andy Suzuki, and Dylan Beketic all added hits as well. RB 7, Timothy Christian 0 Alex Brown (1-2, 3.21 ERA, 47 K) threw a 1-hitter with 0 walks and 17 strikeouts. Matt Scott (.588, 16 RBI) was 1 for 1 with a 3-run homerun in the top of the 5th to put the Bulldogs (4-7-2, 1-0) up 4-0. Scott also walked and was hit by a pitch twice. Vito DeRango (.378, 6 RBI) was 4 for 4 with an RBI and stolen base. Tyler Radek (.304, 6 RBI, 8 SB) was 2 for 4 with 2 stolen bases. Alex Cebular, Sean Brennan, Andy Suzuki, and Dylan Beketic all added hits and Cebular and Billy VandeMerkt (.318, 7 RBI) added RBI. (4/14)

RB 14, Nazareth Academy 7 (6inn, darkness) Matt Kenahan went the distance striking out 8 and giving up just 1 earned run while yielding 6 hits, one walk, and 2 hit batters over 6 innings. The Roadrunners took advantage of a fielding error in the top of the 1st to go up 2 runs but the Dogs (3-7-2) responded with 9 runs on 7 hits in the bottom of the 1st. Tyler Radek, Matt Scott (.576, 13 RBI), and Billy VandeMerkt (.350, 6 RBI) all had 3 hits and Vito DeRango (.317, 5 RBI) and Dylan Beketic added 2 hits each. Matt Kenahan (.355, 7 RBI) and Andy Suzuki also added hits while Scott had 3 RBI, VandeMerkt drove in 2, and DeRango, Cebular, Suzuki, and Beketic each added an RBI. (4/12)

RB 8, Argo 4 The Bulldogs improved to 2-7-2 behind a complete game effort by David Tortorici (1-1, 2.29 ERA) who scattered 7 hits while striking out 3, walking none, and giving up 2 earned runs. Matt Scott (.552, 10 RBI) went 3 for 3 with a double and 2 RBI and Alex Cebular went 3 for 4 with an RBI and stolen base. Andy Suzuki, Cody Marquette, Brendan McGuire, and Vito DeRango all had singles and Billy VandeMerkt (.306, 4 RBI) added a double. (4/10)

RB 3, Nazareth Academy 8 Alex Brown (0-2, 4.27 ERA) threw 5 innings striking out 5 and walking 4 while giving up 7 hits and 7 earned runs. TJ Bongiorno threw a scoreless inning of relief. Vito DeRango was 2 for 3 with an RBI and Billy VandeMerkt also went 2 for 3. Matt Kenahan (.345, 7 RBI) and Alex Cebular added base hits and Sean Brennan had a 2 RBI pinch hit. (4/9)

RB 1, St. Laurence 7- Matt Kenahan threw 6.3 innings striking out 9 while giving up 10 hits. David Tortorici threw well in short relief getting both batters out that he faced. Tyler Radek, Matt Scott, Billy VandeMerkt, and Sean Brennan all added hits. (4/5)

RB 5, Morton 5, 7 inn, darkness Alex Brown went the distance striking out 11 and walking 2 while yielding 7 hits. Matt Kenahan went 2 for 3 and Billy VandeMerkt went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI. Hugh Berglind added a double and VIto DeRango and Alex Cebular added basehits.

RB 3, St. Patrick's 8 Matt Scott (.706, 8 RBI) was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and Hugh Berglind (.467, 4 RBI) also went 2 for 3. David Tortorici (0-1, 2.63 ERA) went the distance for the Dogs scattering 10 hits and 4 earned runs over 6 innings while fanning 2, walking one, and providing 5 assists. Tyler Radek stole 2 bases and scored 2 runs. (3/30)

RB 10, Gordon Tech 10, 7 inn, darkness Bulldog Baseball (1-4-1) ran out of daylight slugging out 11 hits to Gordon Tech's 6. The Bulldogs' offense was highlighted by another stellar performance by Matt Scott who was 3 for 3 with 2 RBI. Scott is currently hitting .714 and .778 with runners in scoring position. Tyler Radek was 2 for 3 with a 2 RBI double. Hugh Berglind also added a 2 RBI double and as the games' starter threw 3.3 innings with 7K, 7BB, and 6 earned runs. Matt Kenahan slugged an RBI double and Dylan Beketic, Billy VandeMerkt, Vito DeRango, and Alex Cebular added hits. Chris James, TJ Bongiorno, and Alex Brown all worked short relief. The Dogs committed 2 errors to Gordon Tech's 1. (3/29)

RB 5, St. Ignatius 9 Bulldog Baseball (1-4) took another 4-1 lead into the bottom of the 5th and failed to deny another big inning. RB once again outhit their opponent 12-10 with each team committing an error. Hugh Berglind was 2 for 3 with a mammoth HR. Matt Kenahan got the loss throwing 4/7 inn giving up 6 hits, 4k, 2BB, and 2 HP while going 2 for 3 at the plate slugging a 3-run homerun. Alex Cebular and Dylan Beketic each went 2 for 4. (3/27)

RB 5, Wheaton North 6 The Dogs (1-3) lost a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the 5th as the Falcons rallied for 4 runs to take the lead. Alex Brown got the loss throwing 4.7 innings whilte striking out 7, walking 4, and giving up 6 hits. Tyler Radek was 2 for 4 with an RBI and 2 SB. Hugh Berglind had an RBI single. The Dogs outslugged the Falcons 7-6 and committed only one error to Wheaton North's two. (3/26)

RB 4, St. Joe's 5 (5 inn, darkness) The Dogs (1-2) were up 4-0 going into the bottom of the 3rd inning when 5 walks, 2 balks, an error, and a hit fueled 5 runs for the Chargers. Hugh Berglind suffered the loss and David Tortorici was phenomenal in relief striking out 4 in 2.3 inn and allowing no hits while throwing 22 of 28 pitches for strikes. Tyler Radek was 2 for 4 with two 2B and 2 RBI. Billy VandeMerkt was 2 for 3 with a triple. Overall the Bulldogs had 7 hits and an error to St. Joe's 2 hits and 1 error. (3/24)

RB 12, Wheaton Academy 6 Matt Kenahan earned the win throwing 5 innings and striking out 4 while allowing 7 hits while going 3 for 4 at the plate with 3 RBI. Matt Scott was 3 for 3 with two 2B, and 3 RBI. Vito DeRango was 3 for 3 with a 2B, SB, and 2 RBI. BIlly VandeMerkt added a triple and David Skowronski added a double. Andy Suzuki provided a rare stolen base. Bulldog Baseball had 13 hits and one error and the Warrios had 11 hits and an error. (3/23)

RB 2, Mt. Carmel 7 Alex Brown threw 4 innings and struck out 7 and allowing 1 hit and 1 walk. Matt Scott was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Dogs had 3 hits and committed 5 errors. The Caravan had 4 hits and one error. Bulldog Baseball was tied 2-2 going into the bottom of the 6th. (3/19)

BULLDOG BASEBALL SEASON OUTLOOK
The Bulldogs enter the 2010 season with a positive outlook and a solid work ethic. On the schedule this season are 4 of the preseason top 50 teams in the state of Illinois as ranked by Prep Baseball Report. The Dogs will open up tomorrow (3/19) at #15 Mt. Carmel and also will face #17 St. Laurence, #23 St. Ignatius, and #40 Nazareth Academy (2 games). The Bulldogs are considered a "Team to Watch" by PBR. Other opponents that are considered "Teams to Watch" are Fenwick, Glenbard South, Leyden, and Wheaton North. This year's squad is lead by senior captains Billy VandeMerkt, Matt Kenahan, and Matt Scott. The Dogs are coming off of consecutive 20+ win seasons where they have won MSC Championships and 3A Regional Championships. The 2010 team went 19-3 this past summer and hope that this success will translate into success in the spring.

TRYOUTS START MARCH 1ST
Our last open gym will be this Sunday night (2/28) at the RB field house. Frosh-soph from 6:30-7:30 and Varsity from 7:30-8:30. Please enter at doors outside of the field house. Frosh tryouts will begin at 5:30pm in the field house on Monday March 1st, Sophs will begin at 5:45am in the field house on the same day, and Varsity tryouts will begin at 5:30am at the Max in McCook. Contact Coach Ziroli with any questions.
REMINDER!!! If you do not have a current physical examination on file with the school make arrangments to do so. You will not be able to try out on March 1st if you do not have a current physical examination on file. If you are unsure if you have a current physical on file please contact Mrs. Terry Cavanaugh in the athletic office (room 129). DOGS LOSE TO OPRF IN SUMMER SEMIFINALS
Despite a great effort on the mound by Alex Brown, Bulldog Baseball (19-3) fell to the Huskies 8-2 in the semifinals of the Fenwick Regional. The two teams were tied 2-2 for the majority of the game when OPRF attacked the Bulldogs' bullpen in the final inning to advance to the championship game where they defeated the Nazareth Roadrunners and advanced to the state tournament. Despite losing 11 seniors from last year's team, the 2010 Bulldogs look to be competitive again this spring season.

DOGS COME FROM BEHIND TO ADVANCE TO SEMIFINALS
Bulldog Baseball (19-2) won their 12th consecutive game beating the #7 York Dukes 5-4 to advance to the semifinal round of the Fenwick Regional of the Phil Lawler Summer Classic. Trailing 4-0 in the bottom of the 5th, the Dogs put up 5 runs on 5 consecutive hits by Zach Sciaccotta (1 for 2), Tyler Radek (1 for 2, SB), Vito DeRango (2 for 4, 2 RBI), Matt Scott (1 for 2), and a 2 RBI double by Hugh Berglind (1 for 4). Billy VandeMerkt was also 2 for 3 on the day with a triple and stolen base. Matt Kenahan earned the win throwing 5 innings and giving up only 2 earned runs. Alex Brown earned the save throwing 2 scoreless innings to close out the game while striking out the side in the 6th and giving up just one hit. #2 Riverside Brookfield will face #3 Oak Park River Forest at Fenwick's the Priory at 3:30 tomorrow (7/22) following a 1:00 game where #1 Nazareth will face #5 Maine West. The winners of these two games will play for the Regional Championship on Thursday (7/23) at the Priory at 2:00. Out of 162 schools entered in the tournament only 32 teams remain. BULLDOGS ADVANCE TO QUARTERFINALS
Bulldog Baseball (18-2) defeated the Fenwick Bison 12-5 in the first round of the Phil Lawler Summer Classic. Zach Sciaccotta earned the win and TJ Bongiorno held the Bison scoreless in the final two frames. Hugh Berglind was 4 for 4 with 3 doubles and 2 RBI, Matt Scott was 2 for 3 with a double and 4 RBI, Tyler Radek was 2 for 3 with an RBI and 2 stolen bases and Alex Cebular was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Overall the Bulldogs had 14 hits on the day and will face York tomorrow (7/21) at York at 4:00 in the quarterfinals. The 8 teams that have advanced to the quarterfinals of the Fenwick Regional are #1 Nazareth, #2 RB, #3 Oak Park River Forest, #5 Maine West, #7 York, #9 Lyons Township, #11 Addison Trail, and #14 Lake View.

BULLDOGS LOOK TO CONTINUE MOMENTUM INTO SUMMER TOURNAMENT
Bulldog Baseball (17-2) has had a very successful summer campaign so far with big wins against Nazareth, Fenwick, and Oak Park this summer and were the champions of Shepard's Wood Bat Classic. Bulldog Baseball has been led by good pitching. RB has thrown 9 shutouts in their 19 summer games with Alex Brown, Matt Kenahan, Hugh Berling, and Zach Sciaccotta rounding out the starting rotation. The offense has been led by Matt Scott (.545), Hugh Berglind (.500, 5 HR), David Skowronski (.407), Tyler Radek (.406), Sean Brennan (.400), Billy VandeMerkt (.389), and Vito DeRango (.382). The Dogs are seeded #2 overall in the Fenwick Regional of the Phil Lawler Summer Classic and will face #17 Fenton or #18 Von Stuben at Fenwick this Monday (7/20) at 5:00pm.
